ANNUAL REPORT CARD EXAMINES SCHOOLS

Wake Education Partnership announces the release of Quality Matters 2006, an independent review of Wake County's public schools. This report, published annually since 2001, provides our community with extensive data and analysis on critical education issues such as student learning, teaching quality, and school funding.

Read this year's report for school-level data on teacher retention, teacher working conditions, and student performance on state ABCs tests, as well as system-level indicators of success.

Despite many successes in the Wake County Public School System, significant challenges remain for our schools. During 2006, the impact of growth on WCPSS took center stage in our community's discussion about education. Quality Matters tackles the questions we need to be talking about in 2007:

How successful are our students?
What should we be doing to strengthen teaching quality?
How well does our community fund the needs of our schools?

If your organization would like a member of the Quality Matters committee to present key data and findings and lead a discussion at an upcoming meeting, please email the Partnership or call 919.821.7609.
